HRM operational models and practices to enable strategic agility in PBOs: Managing paradoxical tensions

When project-based organizations (PBOs) pursue strategic agility, they develop increased adaptation capabilities such as improvisation, fluidity and flexibility. However, these also introduce paradoxical tensions between practices for enabling freedom vs. controlling, combining work desegregation vs segregation, peripheral vision focal vision. In this paper, we set out to identify the HRM operational models developed responses associated with striving agility in PBOs. Our paper contributes literature by showing how is implicated management of tensions, dynamic nature movements arising from improvisational tendencies We argue that role sensing emergence within PBOs, managing under time pressure, becoming increasingly important those PBOs aspiring agility.
